Stanley E. Brown Vernon Center-Stanley E. Brown of Vernon Center lost his long battle with cancer on Friday, October 28, 2016. He was born on August 6, 1950 in Oneida, son of Jesse James Brown and Anna Stabb. Stanley was a 1968 graduate of Clinton High School and went on to receive a Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of Tampa. He was a twenty-three year veteran of the U.S. Air Force retiring in 1993 as a Major. After retiring he spent many years working in Retail and the Aircraft Maintenance Industry. Stanley spent many hours on his hobby of old cars, street rods, and attending car shows. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 161 where he served in several positions and also served as a volunteer at the Rome VA. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Leo J. Brown. He is survived by his longtime companion, Mary Ruth Briggs of Holland Patent, four sisters, Demetria Lanz, Janice Cryderman, Mary Adel Anstey, and Hazel Thurston, and one brother Thomas E. Brown, and numerous nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews. In keeping with Stanley's wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
