Samuel V. Tallarino Sherrill-Samuel V. Tallarino, age 77, of Kinsley Street passed away peacefully Friday morning, Dec. 23, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 16, 1939 in Rome, NY, a son of the late Samuel and Theresa (Carinci) Tallarino and was a graduate of the Rome School system. After graduation Sam served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea before returning home and starting a 39 year career in the Utica Post Office before retiring in 1998. He married his beloved wife, Millie, in 1972 and was with her for 41 years until her passing in 2013. He was an owner/driver/trainer of standard bred horses at Vernon Downs for many years and was a member of the US Trotting Association, the Harness Horse Association of CNY and served as a past president of the CNY Harness Horse Association, as well as being a member of American Legion Post 404. Sam loved his many years of being a horseman and made many wonderful friends who were very dear to him, he also had a love for golf, the NY Yankees, the NY Giants and most especially, spending time with his family. Surviving are his children, Michael (Elaine) Glover, Kathy Shue, Timothy Glover, Jeffrey (Kristen) Tallarino; seven grandchildren, Matthew (April), Christopher, Zachary, T.J., Jacob, Gabriella, Danielle (Caleb) and five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Alyssa, Brennan, Arianna and Elijah; one brother, Tom (Rose) Tallarino and one sister, Carol (Bob) Samuels as well as many other beloved family members. He was predeceased by his brother, Frank in 1982. Special thanks to Hospice and their amazing staff for the loving care they all showed during the end of his illness. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, Jan. 2, 2017 from3:00-6:00 pm at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front St., Vernon, N.Y. A Mass of resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 5652 E. Main St., Verona, NY. Following the mass, the United Methodist Women invite everyone to lunch following the mass at the Vernon Methodist Church, 5230 W. Seneca Street (Rt.5), Vernon, NY.
