Obituary of Janet L. Regner

Please share a memory of Janet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Janet Regner Verona-Janet Regner unexpectedly left us to return to the side of her parents in heaven, Thursday, October 9, 2014. Our mother's life revolved around her family, farm, and community. She was born February 19, 1934, the daughter of "Heinie" and Althea Lovely Oatman. Starting as a very young girl during World War II, she quickly earned master degrees in mechanics, construction, accounting, and business as her father's best employee at the Sherrill City Garage. As a teen, she earned her doctorate in hard work spending summers with her mother and grandmother helping operate a farm also owned by her father in Westernville. Her education was an asset when she married Delwin (Dutch) Regner, September 18, 1954, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Verona, and purchased Quiet Meadows Farm in Verona. Together, they were the best stewards of the land and caretaker of the animals for 50 years before turning responsibilities over to two of their sons. Mom never retired. She continued to balance the farm's books, hold court at the corn stand with the many friends who would stop and visit, spend hours on the tractor, garden, and maintain the grounds of three different farm properties. She said she never had a favorite child because she saw in each a skill and personality that made them special. Mom leaves behind her husband and their five children and spouses Diana and Al Dust, Howard and Kim Regner, Dale and Deb Regner, Roy and Chris Regner and Ken and Susan Regner. The best returns of her life's investments are three great-grandchildren and 15 grandchildren, most of whom she helped raise on the tractor's jumper seat next to her. Mom and dad never missed a VVS game, play or concert if they could help it. Mom has many circles of friends that include her Tuesday lunch group, summer golf league, Farm Bureau's Kitchen Conference, Verona bus trips, Verona Historical Society, Verona and Oneida County politics, the neighbors, and Friday dinners and Sunday breakfasts at Apple Betty's. Friends may call Saturday, October 11, 2014, 12:00 – 2:00 pm at the Malecki Funeral Home, Sherrill, with a brief service following. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, New Hartford. In lieu of flowers, mom would appreciate a contribution to her favorite service organization, the Sherrill Rotary, 131 W. Hamilton Ave., Sherrill, NY, 13461.
