Clive E. VanVleet Sherrill- Clive E. VanVleet, age 98, formerly of Noyes Manor and Oneida passed away peacefully Friday morning October 31, 2014 in the Syracuse VA Medical Center where he had resided for the past year. He was born on December 25, 2015 in Romulus, New York, a son of the late Jay and Lillian (Nicholson) VanVleet and attended Rome schools. On November 13, 1935 Clive and Jean Heller were united in marriage in Trenton, New York and the couple shared a loving marriage of nearly seventy-five years together until Jean's death on September 20, 2010. Clive proudly served his country from 1943 to 1946 with the U.S. Air Force. Prior to his retirement Clive along with his wife Jean owned and operated the former VanVleet Auto Sales in Oneida New York. In 1993 the couple retired making Florida their home before returning to Upstate New York in 2008. Clive was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oneida and Florida. He was a former member of the Board of Director's at the Presbyterian Home of Central New York. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing. Surviving are one brother Arthur VanVleet of Richmond, IN, one sister, Jessie Guyer of Annapolis MD, two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Robert V. and Patricia Heller of Oneida and James B. Heller of Sherrill and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, one sister Gladys Farnam, one brother George VanVleet and his wife Jean. In keeping with Clive's wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., Sherrill, New York. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery, Rome, NY.
