Obituary of Bob "Rocky" DePaul

Bob "Rocky" DePaul Vernon-Bob "Rocky" DePaul, age 86, of Curtis Road passed early Wednesday November 5, 2014 in the Oneida Healthcare Center. He was born on December 26, 1927 in Utica, New York a son of the late Leonard A. and Antonia (Tallerico) DePaul and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. From 1946-1950 Bob proudly served his country while on active duty with the U.S. Navy. On October 11, 1952 Bob and Angelina "Angie" Caracane were united in marriage in St. Anthony's Church of Herkimer and the couple has shared a loving union of sixty–two years together. Prior to his retirement in 1982 Bob was employed with the Utica Observer Dispatch as a district manager. He later went on to train harness horses at Vernon Downs where he was a member of the United states Trotting Association and the Harness Horse Association of CNY. He was a school monitor at William Wettel Elementary School in Vernon for many years just having recently retired. Bob was a very active member of Holy Family Church of Vernon where he and his wife freely volunteered their time working on the Lenten Fish fries and walking the children to CCD classes and many other activities. Bob was also a member of the William Russell American Legion Post 404 of Vernon. He enjoyed being active and spending time with his family that he adored. Surviving are his wife Angie DePaul of Vernon, four children and their spouses, Deborah (Delbert) Richards of DE., Robin DePaul of Munnsville, Lenny (Ellie) DePaul of Long Island, NY and Matthew (Jacqueline) DePaul of Vernon, eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 SHERRILL RD, SHERRILL. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Peterboro Street, Vernon. Burial with military honors will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Rt. 5 Vernon, New York. Condolences may be sent to maleckifuneralhomes.com
