Please share a memory of Marshall to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Canastota-Marshall "Moe" E. Conover, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 15th at the home of his sister, surrounded by his loving family.

Marshall was born December 21st, 1934 in Floyd, NY, the son of Frank and Emma Conover. A resident of Canastota for the past 40 years, Moe attended school in Breathitt, KY and graduated from VVS High School. He served in both the Army and National Guard.

He was employed by Loblaws Grocery Store, retiring as Produce Manager after 25 years. During retirement, Moe pursued a lifelong dream by purchasing "Little Valley Stable" where he raised beef cattle and bred half Arabian palomino horses with his beloved stallion, Tajer, who were his pride and joy.

Moe had a great passion for country music. He was an accomplished guitarist and singer/songwriter, forming the band "The Country Gentleman" with his half brother, Beryl "Tom" Campbell and good friends, Joe Steve, Bob Mathis, Carl Knight and Roger Fox. They recorded a top ten song in Nashville, TN "Happy Days." During his musical career, he met notables like Loretta Lynn.

In his later years, Moe enjoyed camping at both Otter Creek and Brookfield Horse Trails. He became known for his fabulous cooking and enjoyed entertaining friends and family around the campfire with his yodeling and sing-alongs.

Moe will be deeply missed by all. Marshall was predeceased by his parents, his sisters and brothers, Elizabeth (Conover) Sprague, Katherine (Conover) Seelman, Irene (Conover) Still, Kenneth Conover, Frederick Conover, Robert Conover, Virginia (Conover) Davis, LeRoy Conover and several step sisters and brothers.

Moe is survived by his sister Mildred (Conover) Miller and half brother, Beryl "Tom" Campbell, many very special nieces and nephews, his faithful companions, Hobo and Sassy, and many friends.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Vanderhoof and his staff at Tri Valley Medical Practice for their compassion and wonderful care they provided. They would also like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at Oneida Healthcare for the special care they provided.
