Sheila Jeanne Kenna Marmelstein Verona-Sheila Jeanne Kenna Marmelstein, wife of Phil Marmelstein, passed away, Monday, November 24, 2014, at Charles T Sitrin Healthcare Center. Born in Oneida, New York, October 31, 1948, she was the daughter of Kenneth W. and Myrtle Loesa (Stewart) Kenna of Verona, New York. Sheila attended John D. George Elementary School in Verona and graduated from VVS Central School in 1966. A 1968 graduate of Monroe Community College/Eastman Dental School, Sheila was a dental hygienist employed by Dr.'s O'Keefe and Tiernan in Oneida, New York and Franklin Barber in Utica, New York. On September 4, 1971, Sheila married Phil Marmelstein, of Utica, New York, at her family's homestead in Verona. A lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Verona, she served as Elder, Co-Treasurer, and Deacon for many years and was past president of the Mohawk Valley Dental Hygienists' Association. Sheila supported the New Horizons Barbershop Chorus working backstage for several years during their annual shows. Verona was an important part of Sheila's life, and for 54 years it was her home. She also enjoyed summers in the Adirondacks at her family's camp, "Kenna's Inn," on Third Lake in Old Forge. Sheila is survived by her husband of 43 years, and one sister, Joan Kenna Drummond, Blossvale, brothers and sisters-in-laws, Paul Marmelstein and Carol, Alyce and Jack Demma, and David Marmelstein and Joanna. Special cousins, Joel Marmelstein and Marla; Rev. Dr. Peter Thomas and Carolyn and Stewart Williams and Esther. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Terry Boyce-Smith and Thomas G. Smith, Kerry Colleen Boyce, Cynthia Moltz McInerney, Eugene John and Mina Campanie, Beth Mac, Tom Marmelstein, Mark Shepard, Erik and Carolyn Shepard, Aaron and Tiffany Thomas, Edie Marmelstein, and David Kaphan. Also great-nieces and nephews, Dustin and Stephanie Anderson, Eric Anderson, Karley Anderson Anagnos, Brooke Pattison and Douglas Lewis, Rachel and Julio Herrera, Ryan and Beth Pattison, Thomas and Michael McInerney, Veronica and Emma Campanie, Rachel and Brandon Mac, Dylan and Claire Shepard, Benjamin and Evan Shepard, and Jake Marmelstein, and great-great nieces, Sydney Anagnos and Mia Anderson. Sheila was predeceased by her sister, Janet Campanie, her brother Roger Kenna, a niece, Deborah Moltz, and two sisterin- laws, Linda and Connie Marmelstein. Donations may be made to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or The Verona Area Food Pantry. The family would like to thank the staff of Charles T. Sitrin Healthcare Center and Magnolia House for their care of Sheila. Visitation Saturday, December 6, 1:00 - 3:30pm with Memorial Service following at 3:30pm, Verona First Presbyterian Church, Main St. and Rock Rd, Verona, NY.
