\Charlotte P. Strong Knoxboro- Charlotte P. Strong, 87 of Knoxboro Rd. passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at St. Elizabth's Hospital with her loving family at her side. Charlotte was born on December 17, 1927 in Sherrill NY, the daughter of Leonard D. and Agnes Delaney Phillips. She was a graduate of Stockbridge Valley Central School. On November 4, 1949, Charlotte was united in marriage with Carleton G. Strong. The couple shared a union of nearly 58 years until Carleton's death on September 24, 2007. Charlotte retired from Oneida Limited in 1989. She was a member of the CAC and of Knoxboro Community Church. For many years, Charlotte and Carl spent winters in Florida where they greatly enjoyed the weather and visits from their children. Surviving are six children, H. Douglas (Ginsy) Strong of Sherrill; Pat (Art) Lanz of Wampsville; Carl Strong of Port Charlotte, FL; Barb (Tom) Dundon of Knoxboro; Jan Relf of Knoxboro and Sharon (Ted) Daktor of Forestport. Charlotte has 10 grandchildren: Jennifer, Christopher, Lyndee, Carl, Jason, Melissa, Lacey, Mike, Andy and Daniel and 16 great grand children. She is also survived by two brothers, Walter Phillips and Wes (Alice) Phillips and a sister, Betty Gillette. She was predeceased by one sister, Norman Glynn and a brother, Harley Phillips. Additionally, Charlotte leaves a beloved sister- in- law and friend, Yvonne Phillips of Munnsville, and a special friend, Audrey Harney of Knoxboro. In keeping with Charlotte's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held at the Malecki Funeral Home at 23 Front St. Vernon on Thursday, February 19th at 11 am, with Pastor Richard Hasselbarth officiating. Guests are welcome to join the family at the Knoxboro Methodist Church following the service. Burial will occur in the spring at the Augusta Cemetary in Knoxboro. Donations may be sent in lieu of flowers to the Knoxboro Commuity Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
