Donald and Esther Fuess
Esther H. Fuess, of Waterville, passed away unexpectantly on April 14, 2022. Her beloved husband, Donald P. Fuess, also of Waterville, passed away April 15, 2022 following a brief illness. They both passed lovingly into the arms of our Lord, after 59 years of marriage.
Esther was born on January 4, 1939 in Oneida, NY, to Joseph and Ardella Schaller Hennessy. She graduated from Vernon Verona Sherrill High School in 1958. She went on to attend the Rome Beauty School and bought her own beauty salon. Esther was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and an excellent home-maker. She enjoyed cooking, crafting, gardening, and fashion.
Donald was born on January 10, 1933, in Waterville, NY on the Fuess family farm, to Harry and Viola Parker Fuess. He graduated from Waterville Central School in 1951. He was a lifelong dairy and cash crop farmer. Donald was involved in many farm organizations and held a variety of leadership positions. He was very proud of his family and all of their accomplishments. Donald's love of the outdoors continued beyond retirement. He enjoyed keeping busy mowing lawns and doing field work for his friends and neighbors.
Donald and Esther were married on August 11, 1962 at St. Helena's in Sherrill, NY. They are survived by their four children Gretchen (Mike) Tower of Waterville, NY, and their children Katherine (Andres) Castillo, Gregory, Megan, Rachel and Sarah Tower. Peter (Shadia) Fuess of Azle, TX. Stephanie (Scot) Mondore of Richfield Springs, NY and their daughters Adrianna (Eric) Ulinski and Shannah Mondore. Garth (Anne) Fuess of Northfield, MA and their children Jacob, Leah, Noah, Nathaniel and Laura Fuess. They are also survived by their three great grandchildren Annalise, Owen and Alec Ulinski. Esther is survived by her siblings Fr. John Hennessy SJ, Paul (Joan) Hennessy and Ann (Dick) Hurteau. She was predeceased in death by her brothers David, James and Phillip Hennessy and her sister Mary Hennessy. Donald was predeceased in death by his siblings Ruth and Harriette Fuess, Doris Williams, Robert Fuess, and Betty Jane Jones.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Bernard's Catholic Church, 199 Stafford Avenue, Waterville on Wednesday April 20, 2022 at 11:00 am. The family will greet friends after the Mass and also at a luncheon to be held in the Church Hall.
