Vernon- Delight S. Vencek, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away unexpectedly late Monday evening January 27, 2025 at her home.

She was born on May 2, 1948 in Oneida, New York, daughter of the late John and Jane (Moon) Sharrow and was a graduate of Vernon Verona Sherrill Schools before attending Oswego State College.

On November 21, 1970 Delight and George E. Vencek were united in marriage in Sherrill, New York and have shared this loving vow of over fifty-four years together. Throughout the years they enjoyed attending NASCAR modified races, traveling to Florida, and creating memories with friends and family.

Along with her husband, George, Delight was employed for many years as the owner/operator of the El Plaza Motel, in Vernon, NY. Prior to her retirement in 2013, she was the hotel manager at the Inn At Turning Stone in Verona, NY.

Anybody who knew Delight was aware of her love for bears, especially teddy bears. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed attending Broadway musicals. Her family could always count on her support. She loved attending her grandchildrens' school sporting events and performances. Her family will never forget her smile and excitement for family traditions, especially the Peppermint Pig!

Surviving is her husband, George E. Vencek, daughters Abbie (Jose) Enriquez of Andover, NJ and Marianne Urtz (Craig Clarke) of Oneida, NY, a son George Vencek (Tammy LaQuay) of Vernon, NY. She is also survived by her sister Elaine (Charles) Burke of Vernon Center, NY. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Madeleine and Nathaniel Enriquez, Trinity Vencek, Jackson and Carter Urtz and Mattingly Clarke.

In keeping with Delight's wishes the family will gather privately to celebrate her life. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home of Vernon. Online condolences may be sent to maleckifuneralhome.com
