Obituary of Patricia S. Roehm

Patricia Scanlan Roehm (Pat), age 95 of 1439 Middle Road, Oneida, NY
passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025 from a lengthy illness at Crouse Community Center, Morrisville, NY where she had been a resident since August 2024. 

Patricia was born in Manhattan, NY on June 1, 1929, a daughter
of the late James and Gertrude (Blacklock) Scanlan, and moved to Canastota, NY as a baby.  She graduated from Canastota High School in 1946.

On September 29, 1951 Patricia was united in marriage to 
Albert W. Roehm Jr. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Church and shared their union for almost 28 years until Albert’s death on July 3, 1979.

Patricia worked at the Court Yard Market in Wampsville, NY from 1980-1991, retiring in 1991 to watch her grandchildren.  She was known by her customers there as the lady that made the great subs.  She also invented the half and half pizzas that they served there.  In earlier years she worked for the Farm Bureau, Oneida Limited in Sherrill as a keypunch operator and Oneida City Hospital.

Patricia was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Oneida 
known today as St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Patricia enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her 
grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She liked playing putt putt golf with the family and had many of her birthdays celebrated this way.  She also enjoyed baking, especially making her children and grandchildren cakes for their birthdays along with their favorite pies for the holidays.   Patricia also enjoyed going on vacations with her family and holiday gatherings, especially Christmas!  She loved watching the birds visit the garden outside of her kitchen window.  She also enjoyed, watching tv game shows The Price Is Right, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, 
Hallmark movies, Figure Skating, Golf, The Lawrence Welk show with music from the good ole days to modern Country Music Artist Keith Urban, and the weather channel.  She always watched the weather very closely.  She had a weather stick and weather globe that she enjoyed watching to determine what the weather was going to do.

Patricia also known as Pat was called the Energizer Bunny by her children because of her heart health.  She took a licking and kept on ticking until the ripe old age of 95 almost 96!

Surviving are three daughters and sons in laws Dianne Fortier and the late Martin of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lisa and Kent Johnson of Oneida, NY, Patricia and John (Jack) Cavallo of Oneida, NY; three sons and daughter in laws Albert III (Julie) Roehm of Mankato, Minnesota, Kenneth 
Roehm and ex-wife Nola Roehm of Oneida, NY and Lance and Bobbie Roehm of Apex, North Carolina.; 15 grandchildren – Chris & (Alexis), Rhena, Dawn & Bill Fortier, Elizabeth (Roehm) & Matt Korteum, Tressa (Roehm) & Jake Flo, Alexis (Roehm) & Max Rich, Mitchell Roehm, Kristen (Johnson) & Matt Kozlowski, Kent Johnson Jr. & Brittany,  Matthew Roehm, Jordan, John, Whitney Cavallo,Adrienne (Cavallo) & Mark Tompkins, 20 great grandchildren with 2 additional on the way, 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Gertrude and James, her husband Albert, her sisters Claire Carney, Jane Beach, Carol Gleason, Connie Noble, and her brother James Scanlan. 

The family of Patricia wishes to thank Carol Johnson and family for all of your love and support to our Mom over the years.  She considered you all as her second family.  We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Daniel Ratnarajah her long time physician, and all of the nursing staff at Crouse Community Center for your kind and compassionate care shown to Patricia.

Contributions in her memory can be made to the American Heart Association, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 

Honoring Patricia’s wishes there will be no public calling hours and a private family service will be held on Monday, May 19th, 2025 at Malecki Funeral Home in Sherrill, NY
