Obituary of Michael R. Wright

Sherrill-Michael R. Wright, a former longtime Sherrill resident passed away early Saturday morning January 3, 2026 in the Valley Health Facility in Herkimer where he was a resident for the last four and a half years at the age of 70. He was born on September 28, 1955 in Oneida, New York a son of the late Robert V. Wright Sr. and former Bertha L. Hitchings. Michael enjoyed his times spent with his family, especially his grandmother and helping his mom around the house and looking at the inserts of the Sunday newspaper. Family outings were always a big joy to Michael. He did puzzles upside down, collected magazines and was a Legos extraordinaire. Michael was a New York Yankee fan and his favorite restaurant was Burger King. Surviving is his sisters Paula Wright and Susan Wright both of Sherrill, brothers, David (Mona) Wright of Sherrill, Kevin (Michelle) Wright of Albuquerque, NM and James (Melissa) Wright of Chittenango, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. Michael was predeceased by his parents; Robert V. and Bertha L. Wright Sr. and his brother Robert V. Wright Jr. The family would like to thank the staff at the Valley Health Facility for their kind compassionate care given to Michael during his stay. Graveside services will be held in the spring in Oneida Castle Cemetery, Oneida Castle, NY.
