Obituary of Richard C. Walker

Vernon-Richard C. "Rick" Walker formerly of Vernon and The Towers of Oneida passed away early Monday morning January 5, 2026 in University Hospital after an extended illness.

Rick was born on November 10, 1948 in Oneida, New York a son of the late Robert R. and Marilyn (Bartell) Walker. He attended the Westmoreland Schools and was a graduate of Vernon Verona Sherrill High School.

Rick enlisted on August 17, 1966 with the United States Marine Corp and re-enlisted on on March 26, 1970 with the Marine Corp and served for over one and a half years in the Vietnam during the war and was honorably discharged on March 30, 1973.

Prior to his retirement Rick was employed as a machine operator with the Oneida Limited Silversmiths.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 230 of Sherrill and was a proud American who could be seen driving his pickup truck with American flags attached to the bed waving in the wind.

Surviving are his son Robert R. Walker of Blossvalle, sisters; Lynda Metz, Elizabeth (B.J.) Dodge and Theressa (David) Wilkinson, three grandchildren, Bella Walker, Rikki Moore and Sean Duell, son-in-law Ronnie Moore, a special friend Phyllis Lighthall and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill, NY, 13461.

Spring burial with military honors will be in the family plot in St. Mary's Cemtery, Clinton, NY. Online condolences may be sent to maleckifuneralhome.com
