Obituary of James F. Mahoney

Mr. James Mahoney, 90 years, of Charlotte, SC, formerly of Hopewell, PA, Churchville, NY and Rome, NY , died on January 22, 2026 in Charlotte, SC, where he resided for the past five years with his daughter Kori Vance and her husband Chris Vance. 

  Born in Rome, NY., Mr. Mahoney attended school and graduated from Vernon Verona Sherrill in Verona, NY. Early employment saw him selling cars and working in a dairy making ice cream. He was then employed by US Air and relocated to Pittsburg/ Hopewell, PA where he retired.

  James found great pleasure in volunteering during his spare time

delivering meals to the needy and spending time at his cabin on the river visiting with friends.

  His son, Dale, predeceased him in passing in 1993. Survivors include a son, Dan Mahoney, Cinebar,WA, a son, Doug Mahoney, Richardsville, VA., a daughter, Kelly Grandy, Grand Rapids, MN, a daughter Kori Vance, SC, a sister Jean Mahoney, Rome, NY, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

  Memorial services will be held Saturday April 11, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Plymouth Alliance Church, Kinsley Street, Sherrill, NY. Graveside services will follow in Verona Cemetery, Main street, Verona, NY. A celebration of Life will be at 12:30 p.m. at Marble Hill Inn.
