Obituary of Arthur G. Morris

ROME – Arthur G. Morris, age 98, formerly of Middle Road, Sherrill, passed away on Friday, February 28 at the Betsy Ross Nursing Home where he had been a resident since 2017. Born May 16, 1921, in West Eaton, Art was the son of LaVern and Alice Grace Westcott Morris. He graduated from Morrisville-Eaton High School and was employed by the Earlville Paper Box Company before he entered the Army Air Corps during World War II. Following his service, Art and his wife, the former Mildred Margaret Brooks, whom he married on June 17, 1943, moved to Oneida where he was employed by Oneida Limited until his retirement in 1986. Art and Mil were members of Christ Church in Sherrill where Art enjoyed many friendships and was a key part of the Woodworkers Club. He was a member of the American Legion and of the historic Nelson Welsh Congregational Church. Besides his wife and parents, Art is predeceased by all his brothers and sisters: Minnie, DeEtte, John, Walter, Tommy, Lawrence, and Ray. He is survived by a son, Arthur G. Morris, Jr. and his wife, Paulette, of Clatskanie, Oregon; five grandchildren, Gary (Marcia), Eric (Pamela), Jennifer (David), Mikhail and Iain; and his former daughter-in-law, Susan. Good-natured and kind, as well as eminently lovable, he was treasured by his great-grandchildren, Kathryn (and husband, Jason), Evan, Samuel, Bryn, Annika, Emmy, Alyse and Drew. A memorial service will take place in the spring. Contributions in Art's memory may be made to Nelson Welsh Congregational Church, 3720 Welsh Church Rd.
