Obituary of Jack R. Watson

Vernon- Jack R. Watson, age 65, a caretaker of harness racing horses presently at Vernon Downs passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday morning August 18, 2020 in the Oneida Healthcare Center after a brief illness. He was born on July 25, 1955 in Toledo, Ohio a son of the late Ralph and Eloise (Chalet) Watson and attended the Toledo Schools. Jack's Mother's early death at a young age prompted Jack to leave school and pursue a career for himself. That is when Jack started working as a groom with the harness horses and traveled the country and the world caring for horses. In recent years he wintered at Spring Garden Ranch in Deleon Springs, Florida and came north in the summer to care for the horses landing him at Vernon Downs. Jack is survived by one brother Michael and sister-in-law Mary Ann Watson, two sisters Wendy Debord and Lucinda and brother-in-law William VanDusen and his many friends at the various racetrack. In keeping with Jack's families wishes his remains will be sent back to Ohio. There will be no services here in New York. Online condolences may be sent to maleckifuneralhome.com
