Chester Golowski Vernon-Chester Golowski, age 91, formerly of State Rt. 26 passed away early Tuesday, September 1, 2015 in St. Luke's Health Care Center. He was born on June 24, 1924 in Utica, New York the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Kowaic) Golowski and was educated in the Utica School System. Chet proudly served his country from 1942 to 1945 during WW II with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre. On December 22, 1956 Chet and Margaret Krug were united in marriage in Vernon and shared a loving union of over fifty-one years together until Margaret's death on May 19, 2008. Prior to his retirement Chet was employed as an iron worker with the Iron Workers Local 440 of Utica. Chet enjoyed trips with his wife to Canada to fish and their winters in Florida. Chet was a member of Holy Family Church of Vernon, William Russell American Legion Post 404 of Vernon and Malsan Jones VFW Post 7393 of New York Mills. Surviving are one brother, John Golowski (Virginia) of Utica, one sister Jessie Loomis (Gordon) of Whitesboro and several nieces and nephews. Chet was predeceased by his wife Margaret, sister Sophie, brother and sister in laws: Walter (Helen) Golowski, Mitchell (Anna) Golowski, and Joseph (Pauline) Golowski. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon, New York. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Peterboro Street, Vernon.
