Susan R. Nell Vernon-Susan R. Nell, age 70, of Jenkins Road passed away peacefully early Monday morning September 21, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous fourteen year battle with cancer. She was born on June 10, 1945 in Oneida, New York a daughter of the late Robert and Helen (Gribuski) Weimer and was a graduate of Westmoreland Central School Class of 1963. On April 24, 1965 Susan and Merle L. Nell were united in marriage in the Church of Annunciation of Clark Mills and the couple has shared this loving union of over fifty years together. Prior to her retirement Susan was employed with the shipping department of Oneida Limited Silversmiths. In her spare time she enjoyed tending to her flowers, doing crossword puzzles, camping with her family, especially with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren's sporting events and spending her winters in Florida. Surviving are her husband Merle L. Nell of Vernon, two sons and two daughters-in-law, Scott and Cynthia Nell of Vernon, Mark and Jolaine Nell of Verona, one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Todd Esch of Sherrill, her beloved grandchildren, Adam, Matthew, Zachary, Abigail, Marissa and Daniel, two step grandchildren, Travis and Trevor, one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Fred Maciag of Vernon, one brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Carol Weimer of South Burlington, VT, one sister-in-law Doris Nell Wallace of Fairfield, Ohio, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Susan was predeceased by two brothers Robert and Alan Weimer and a brother-in-law, Bruce Nell. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to special friend Barbara Cook and Angels 63 for their caring support during Susan's most difficult days. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon, New York. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Peterboro Street, Vernon. Private burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vernon, New York.
