Obituary of Gerald L. Pedersen

Gerald L. Pedersen Sr. Westmoreland-Gerald L. Pedersen Sr., age 77, of Cooper Street passed away Saturday morning October 17, 2015 at his home surrounded by his wife and loving family. He was born on February 26, 1938 in Brookfield, New York on the family farm, son of Andrew and Susan (Potter) Pedersen, one of fourteen children and was a graduate of Leonardsville Central School . He proudly served his country with the United States Army from 1955 to 1958. On November 21, 1987 Gerald and Judie Foley were united in marriage in Waterville, New York and have shared a loving union of nearly twenty-eight years together. Gerald enjoyed coaching baseball and was an avid hunter. He took great pride in the care of his lawn and his "back yard". He enjoyed spending time with and attending Mikeal and Haylee's sporting events. He was a member of the William Russell American Legion Post 404 of Vernon. Surviving are his wife Judie Pedersen, his five children, Gerald Jr. (Mary) Pedersen, Tim Pedersen, Jeff (Lisa) Pedersen, Kevin Pedersen (Sarah and Liam), daughter Karie Hawkins (Doug) , his grandchildren, Erik, (Kim), Adam, Lauren and Jake, his special grandchildren Mikeal and Haylee and beloved great-grandson David. Also surviving are his brother Frank (Elsie) Pedersen and two sisters, Mary Young and Edna Pryputniewicz. Gerald was predeceased by his parents and ten siblings. The family would like to thank the Sitrin Healthcare Center & Hospice Nursing staff for all the loving care provided to Gerald. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funetal Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home, Vernon. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vernon.
