Jack L. Eddy
Sherrill-Jack L. Eddy, age 95 returned to the Lord Thursday November 5, 2015 after a brief illness. He was born on May 17, 1920 in Lennox Furnace, New York a son of the late Levi and Bessie (Wilcox) Eddy and was a graduate of Oneida High School.
Jack was activated on November 15, 1942 into the United States Army 14th Armored Division with campaigns in Ardennes-Alsace, Rhineland and Central Europe. During this period he served as an Armed Radio Repairman in the Armored Signal Company 154 and was honorably inactivated on September 23, 1945.
Prior to his retirement Jack was employed with the Oneida Limited Silversmith in many capacities and was an innovated designer.
Jack was a lifetime member of the Sherrill American Legion Post 230 of Sherrill. In his spare time he enjoyed building things whether it was out of wood or metal and was an excellent repairman. He enjoyed photography and listening to music. Jack did many things from driving a race car to flying a plane.
Surviving are one daughter, Priscilla Woolridge, grandchildren Kimberly Ball, Wendy (Jay) Jacuk, Jeff (Renee) VanSlyke, Jerry VanSlyke, Paul (Sharon) VanSlyke, and Tom VanSlyke, nephew Wayne (Karmel) Eddy, niece Janet Wiley, as well as many great-grandchildren, and his very best friend Rick Smith. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Irene (Dorochak) Eddy, daughter Diane VanSlyke and brother Kenneth Eddy.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill, NY. Mr. Eddy's funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours at 4:00 p.m.at the funeral home with Pastor Mick Keville officiating. Private burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Merrillsville, NY.
