Rev. C. Rex Burdick Sherrill- On February 29, 2016, Rev. C. Rex Burdick went to the home Jesus had prepared for him. Born October 28, 1922 in Boulder, Colorado he was the son of Carroll R. and Isabel Burdick. He graduated from DeRuyter, N Y High School in 1940. Graduated from Salem College Salem W V with BA Degree in l945. Graduated from Faith Seminary in Delaware with a Bachelor of Divinity Degree in 1949, a Master of Sacred Theology 1951, and a Masters of Education from Syracuse University 1962. He was ordained to the gospel Ministry in 1948 at the Seventh Day Baptist Church in Marlboro, N J. Along with pastoring Seventh Day Baptist Churches, he also served in several National Denominational positions. He is a member and Pastor Emeritus of the Verona Seventh Day Baptist Church Verona, N Y. On September 2, 1944 he married Bette Lippincott in Battle Creek, M I. She died on May 10, 1968. On August 3, 1969 he married Joyce Sholtz in Verona, N Y. When they retired in 1985 after 40 years of ministry they moved to Sherrill, N Y. He served Seventh Day Baptist churches in Marlboro, N J, Salem, W V, Verona, N Y, Riverside, C A, and Berlin, N Y. He was predeceased by His beloved wife Bette, infant daughter Susan, 4 brothers and 2 sisters-in-law; Wendell and Virginia, Richard, Willard, Eugene and Elsie. He is survived by his beloved wife Joyce, 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law; Douglas Burdick of Winter Haven, Florida, and Norman (Vicki) Burdick of Riverside, C A, 3 daughters and 1 son -in -law; Carole Orr of Riverside, CA, Martha (Wesley) Greene of Wooster, OH, Pam Burdick of Hoosick Falls, N Y, our special family friend Ann Sweener, 9 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, 2 brothers and 3 sisters-in-law; Wayne (Arline) of Colorado Springs, C O, Gordon (Nita) of Lake Wales, FL, and Glenice Burdick of DeRuyter, N Y, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday March 3, 2016 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6PM to 8 PM at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherill Rd., Sherrill, NY. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at the Verona Seventh Day Baptist Church, 6775 Blackmans Corners Rd. Verona, NY 13478. Burial will be in DeRuyter Rural Cemetery, DeRuyter, NY. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Verona Seventh Day Baptist Church, Hospice and Palliative Care, or Guideons International.
