Obituary of Edgar S. Jackson

Edgar "Sonny" Jackson Jr. Sherrill- Edgar "Sonny" Stanley Jackson Jr., of Sherrill, NY passed away peacefully on October 21, 2016 in the Oneida Healthcare Extended Care Facility after a lengthy illness with his family by his side. He was born on August 13, 1949 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica, NY to his parents Vivian Colamaio and Edgar Stanley Jackson. He is survived by his loving daughters, Morgan Jackson (Peter Newman) and Jaymee Jackson (Matthew Wagner), two grandchildren Kaiden and Zoey Newman, his sister Susan (James C. Bingham) and his nephews James (Sheryl Hayes) Bingham, Jeffery (Colleen Jones) Bingham and several cousins and many friends. He was a graduate of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School and attended the New England Aeronautical Institute in Nashua, New Hampshire. He was employed at Oneida Ltd. for over forty years and Rite-Aid Pharmacy for twenty years and owned and operated Jackson Photography. Mr. Jackson followed in the footsteps of his grandmother Celia Jackson as a champion bowler. He loved cooking and was the master of apple and pumpkin pies and popcorn balls. He was also known for gardening and his abundant grape harvest. He was an avid gun enthusiast and hunter. Ed enjoyed many vacations to Jamaica where he felt most relaxed. He spent much of his time teaching his grandchildren how to fly kites and master paper airplanes. His humor always kept everyone around him on their toes and laughing. Many thanks to the staff on the 4th floor at the ECF for their care and compassion in caring for Ed during his stay there. Family and friends may call on Tuesday October 25, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Road, Sherrill, New York. Mr. Jackson's funeral service will be held Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home following calling hours. Burial will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Maple Grove Cemetery, Rt. 5, Vernon, New York.
