Lairdsville-Donald B.Wattenbe, age 91, a lifelong resident of the Vernon area died Tuesday afternoon, June 26, 2018 after a brief illness at the Presbyterian Home. He was born on March 3, 1927 a son of the late Harry and Nellie (Burton) Wattenbe and was a graduate of Vernon High School. He was a hardworking dairy farmer for many years and went on to work for Law Manufacturing and Sherrill Manufacturing retiring at the age of 80. Don enjoyed stock car races and was a NASCAR fan. Surviving are his sister; Viola Rowe of North Bay, daughter Jeanne (Jaron) Lynch of Vernon, stepsons; Randy Anno of Harmony, PA and Jim Quarles of S. Thomaston, ME, many grandchildren and many great grandchildren Don was predeceased by his wife Audrey, brother Kenny, stepdaughter Denise Hepperly and stepson Quentin Quarles. The family would like to thank the staff at the Presbyterian Home, especially Allison and Alyssa in therapy for their caring for my dad. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home, 23 Front Street, Vernon; there will be a brief prayer service at the conclusion of calling hours. Burial will be Saturday June 30, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, W. South Street, Westmoreland, NY. Online condolences may be sent to maleckifuneralhome.com
