Obituary of Roy Quackenbush

Sherrill-Roy E. Quackenbush, age 70, passed away Tuesday, August 07, 2018 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with his loving family at his side.

He was born on June 29, 1948 in Canastota, New York a son of Millard and Jean (Shay) Quackenbush and was a graduate the Canastota Schools.

In 1969 Roy and Sally L. Relyea were united in marriage in Canastota and have shared that loving union of over forty-nine years together.

Prior to his retirement Roy was employed as a machine operator with the Oneida Limited Silversmiths. Past retirement Roy worked as a bus monitor and trained machinist with Sherrill Manufacturing.

In his spare time he was a Boy Scout Leader, a member of the Sherrill Volunteer Fire Department and their fire police, also a baseball and softball coach. He enjoyed talking and helping other, doing word searches, walking, camping, fishing and times spent with his family.

Surviving are his wife Sally L. Quackenbush of Sherrill, his three children, Kevin D. (Nicole) Quackenbush of Sherrill, Karen A. Quackenbush of Sherrill and Kristen M. Quackenbush (Brian English) of Sherrill, two grandchildren Isabella Quackenbush and Jakob Quackenbush also of Sherrill, four brothers and their spouses, Bruce (Pam) Quackenbush, David (Diane) Quackenbush, Gary (Peggy) Quackenbush and Alan (Audrey) Quackenbush, several nieces, nephews and his canine companion Precious Jewell.

Roy was predeceased by his parents and a brother Lyle Quackenbush.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday August 10, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Road Sherrill, NY. Roy's funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Vernon United Methodist Church 5230 W. Seneca Street, Vernon, NY with Rev. Frank Loan officiating. Burial will be private.
