Vernon Center-Phillip R. LaGoy, age 19, of Hogan Road passed away Sunday afternoon, September 23, 2018 in Golisano Children's Hospital of Syracuse after a courageous battle with cancer with his loving family at his side. He was born on May 11, 1999 in Oneida, New York a son of Richard III and Tracy (Shaw) LaGoy and was a graduate of Vernon Verona Sherrill School. Phillip was a member of the Vernon Fire Department and was a member of the Boy Scouts and FFA who enjoyed hunting with his family. Surviving are his parents, Richard H. III and Tracy (Shaw) LaGoy, one brother Dalton LaGoy of Vernon, his companion and best friend Shayla Peters, his paternal grandfather Dick LaGoy of Vernon, maternal grandmother Anne Shaw of Canastota, many loving, aunts, uncles and cousins. Phillip was predeceased by his brother Joshua. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Plymouth Alliance Church, Kinsley Street, Sherrill, New York. Private burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Oneida, New York. The family would like to thank the clinical nurses and Doctors who visited Phillip on a daily basis and to thank all the nurses and staff on 11-G for their compassionate care given to Phillip.
