Obituary of Marlene A. Durant

Sylvan Beach-Marlene A. Durant, age 74, of Shirron Ave. passed away peacefully Friday evening November 26, 2021 in the comfort of her home with her family at her side. She was born on September 17, 1947 in Utica, New York a daughter of the late Morris H. Sr. and Carrie (Blunt) Sturdevant and was a graduate of Waterville Schools. On October 16, 1965 Marlene and Leland J. Durant were united in marriage in St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Church in Munnsville, New York and shared that vow of forty-six years together until Leland’s death on January 31, 2012. Prior to her retirement Marlene was employed as a bus driver with the Clinton School System, and a caregiver for the elderly. In her spare time she enjoyed riding her tricycle in the Sylvan Beach area with her friends, traveling on cruises and spending time with her friends and family. Surviving are her one son Timothy (Wanda) Durant, one daughter Constance (Gary) Eastman, her beloved grandchildren, Lydia Durant, Carrie, Gary and Olivia Eastman, Aidan Farmer, step-grandson, Roger Jackson, two great-grandchildren, Ava and Vale Jackson, son-in-law, Joseph Farmer, sister-in-law Gail Sturdevant, Barbara (Wescott) Scheible, Jean Durant, Shirley (Terrance) Kampf, Marian (Willie) Lowe, brother-in-law, Jack (Wanda) Durant and several nieces and nephews. Marlene was predeceased by her husband, daughter Kristie Farmer, brother Morris Sturdevant Jr., sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Grant Shea, brothers-in-law Charles Durant and Kenny Wescott. In keeping with Marlene’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Friday December 3, 2021at 11:00 a.m. in St. Helena’s Cemetery, Middle Road, Oneida, NY.
