Obituary of Sharon J. Thomas

Vernon-Sharon J. Thomas, age 71, of Wood Road passed away early Friday evening January 28, 2022 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center after ongoing illnesses. She was born on the 4th of July, 1950 in Oneida, New York a daughter of Glen and Ernestine (Butler) Jeffris and was a graduate of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School. On March 1, 1969 Sharon and Joel R. Thomas were united in marriage in the Cochran Memorial Presbyterian Church of Oneida Castle and have shared this loving vow spanning over fifty-two years together. Sharon was employed for many years in the accounts payable department of Oneida Limited and after their closing she worked for The Savings Bank of Utica and Fountain Head Group prior to her retirement. She was an avid reader, loved the ocean and spent many great weekends camping with her grandchildren whom she adored. She loved spending time with her great friend Diana sipping margaritas. Sharon had a selfless philosophy on life which was evident in everyone she touched. Surviving are her husband Joel R. Thomas of Vernon, her two children and their spouses, Todd (Dawn) Thomas of Utah, Tara (Harold) Chadderdon of Vernon, her beloved grandchildren, Justin, Brendan, Ashley and Tyler Thomas, Bradley and Andrew Poppleton, great grandchildren, Ruby, Bentley and Oakley, her mother Ernestine Jeffris of Sherrill, one sister Carol (Mel) Mack of Oneida Castle, one nephew Chad Mack of North Carolina, In keeping with Sharon's wishes there will be no calling hours or services.
