Obituary of Elaine M. Whitmore-Carney

Elaine M. Whitmore - Carney of Lee Center passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2024. Elaine was born on January 18, 1945 in La Fargeville NY to Norris J and Mildred E. (Peters) Hyde. She attended Clayton Central School. December 19, 1962 she was united in marriage to Joseph Whitmore. That union produced her four beloved children, Norris (Patricia) Whitmore of Lee Center, Doug Whitmore of Ava, Joe Whitmore and Millie (Walter) Gawarecki, also of Lee Center. June 15, 1996, she married the love of her life, Joseph H. Carney and gained two bonus sons, Patrick Carney of Sherrill NY and Heath Carney of Verona NY. Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Joe Carney, children and step-sons, her brother James (Sandra) Hyde, her sister in law, Karen J. Hyde, her grandchildren, Travis (Kira), Neena (Bryce), Danielle (Joe), Haley (Nathan), Keith (Marina), Teighlar (Jared), Makenzie (Kyle) and Kaden, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren, She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers John N. Hyde I, Douglas R. Hyde and sisters, Joyce K. Hyde and Celia A. Livingston. Throughout the years, Elaine was a care-giver to many children in the Lee Center area and loved them all like her own. She was active in the Lee Center United Methodist Church and was a lifetime member of the Lee Center Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary of which she held the position of Secretary for over 25 years. She was also past secretary of the Aldrich Fish and Game Club of which she was an honorary member. Calling hours will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at the Malecki Funeral Home, 23 Front Street, Vernon NY. A private burial will take place Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Saint Lawrence Union Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Elaine's memory may be made to the Lee Center Fire Department, The Lee Center United Methodist Church (general fund) or the Hyde Fund ? the Aldrich Fish and Game Club, 9212 State Route 26, Lee Center NY 13363.
