Obituary of Florence C. Altstatt

Oneida-Florence C. Altstatt, of Union Street passed away early Wednesday morning July 3, 2024 in her sleep at the age of 97, at her daughter and son-in-law's home where she resided for the past eleven years.

She was born on September 11, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA a daughter of the late Lawrence E. And Madeleine H. (Meisch) Bagnall and was a graduate of the Philadelphia schools.

On March 13, 1944 Florence and John Leo Phillips were united in marriage and shared that vow until John's untimely death on December 16, 1955. On June 6, 1959 Florence again was united in marriage to Otto James Altstatt and shared that vow of over fifty-three years until Otto's death on March 28, 2013.

Prior to her retirement to raise her children Florence was a sales clerk with Montgomery Wards in National City California.

In her spare time Florence enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting, camping and trips to the casino.

Surviving are her three children and their spouses, Larry (Gail) Phillips of La Mesa, CA, James (Gail) Phillips of National City, CA, and Cheryl (Kimmen) Richmond of Oneida and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Florence was predeceased by her son John "Jack" Leo Phillips and sister Madeleine Hollows.

In keeping with Florence's wishes there will be a celebration of life on Sunday, August 4, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 1694 Unon Street, Oneoda, NY.
