Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Virginia V. Miller Sherrill-Virginia V. Miller, 99 1/2 years old, passed to the Lord on August 12, 2015. She was born in her Sherrill home in March 1916, daughter of Clarence P. and Ada Harrington Viele. Virginia graduated from Sherrill High School in 1934. After graduation, she worked at Oneida Ltd. as a secretary in the Purchasing Dept. for 13 years. During that time, Virginia met her husband-to-be, Douglas Miller, when he worked for her father at the Kenwood garage. They married in February 1943 and shared a loving relationship for 65 years, until Douglas' passing in 2008. After raising her two children, she worked at the Oneida Valley National Bank in Sherrill, retiring after 23 years. Virginia was a member of the Christ Church United Methodist in Sherrill and served as financial secretary for many years. She was active in the DAR/Stockbridge Chapter, the Huguenot Society, and the Madison County Historical Society. After retiring, Virginia traced her Viele genealogy to the early 1600s in New York State. She also enjoyed flower gardening and watching Noyes Park baseball games from her back porch during the summers. The family wishes to thank the many wonderful caregivers over the past 7 years, who helped keep Virginia living in her family home. Virginia's easy-going and loving nature will be sorely missed. Virginia was pre-deceased by her brother Wilbur "Pete" Viele and sister Joyce Garrett and a nephew, David Spaulding. She is survived by two sons, Barry (Marsha) Miller of Sherrill and Brian Miller of Sherrill, three grandchildren, Keri (Sean) Barton of Canastota, Carly (Adam) Falkenmeyer of Sherrill and Bradley Miller of Oneida. Great grandchildren, Nicholas, Gracie, Laney, Lyla, and Gavin, and 4 nieces and a nephew. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday August 15, 2015 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Christ Church United Methodist, 417 Park Street, Sherrill, NY.
