Obituary of James H. Dixon
Oriskany Falls-James H. Dixon, age 77, formerly of McLaughlin Road passed away Thursday evening July 21, 2022 at the Waterville Residential Center where he more recently resided.
He was born on June 30, 1945 in Oneida, New York a son of the late Walter H. and Evelyn (Klein) Dixon and was a graduate of the Vernon Verona Sherrill Schools. After graduation Jim served with the Air Army National Guard.
On May 27, 1972 Jim and Regina Faldzinski were united in marriage in Durhamville, New York and shared that vow of over 47 years together until Regina's death on May 30, 2019.
Prior to his retirement Jim was employed as a supervisor with the New York State Thruway Authority bridge crew. After retirement from the state he enjoyed his job as a grounds keeper and all around handyman at the Mansion House in Kenwood.
He was a past member of the Verona Fire Department and the Verona Historical Society. He along with his wife enjoyed caring for their horses. They also ran a carpentry business for a number of years selling countless knick knacks. They loved dancing at the Polish Home as well. His family especially his grandchildren brought Jim the greatest joys in his life.
Surviving are his, three children: Debra Dixon (Michelle King), Tara (Peter) Gowans, Christina Krzyzanowski, his siblings, Geraldine (Al) Rousseau and Edward (Sharon) Dixon, grandchildren; Kyle (Ashley), Swetmon, Kaylee Swetmon (DJ Bartlett), , Brandon Gowans, Tyler Gowans, Carter Gowans, Emma Gowans, Adam Krzyzanowski Amanda Kryzanowski (Zach Freiermuth), great-grandchildren; Madelyn Bartlett, Kennedy Bartlett, Wyatt Krzyzanowski and Addison Swetmon to arrive soon as well as several nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, his wife Regina, daughter Tamara Swetmon and sister Diane Horton .
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July26, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral; Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 4352 Peterboro Street, Vernon, NY.
